Lefteris S. Eleftheriou is a Certified Film Commissioner from the AFCI. For over thirteen years, he has been actively promoting Cyprus as an attractive destination in key economic sectors. In 2013, Lefteris played a pivotal role in a team tasked with developing a strategy for Cyprus’s film industry. After significant efforts, the Council of Ministers adopted the Cyprus Film Scheme in 2017. Now, as the Chairman of the Cyprus Film Commission representing Invest Cyprus, Lefteris oversees the assessment of applications for the Scheme and leads the national effort to promote Cyprus as a premier film destination.
Since 2022, Lefteris has been a member of the board of directors of the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN), the official association of European film commissioners. In March 2024, he was elected to the International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.
Lefteris holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Philosophy from Hunter College, New York, and a master’s degree in Politics from New York University. He has also taken law courses at the University of London and Political Communication courses at the University of Cyprus.
